Cessna LC-126
The LC-126A light utility transport is a
military version of the commercial Cessna Model 195 cabin monoplane. The
Model 195, which had developed a reputation for ruggedness and excellent
performance, attracted the attention of the U.S Air Force when it was
looking for aircraft suitable for Arctic service. As a result, the Air
Force ordered 15 LC-126As in 1949 for use in rescue operations in Alaska.
The aircraft were delivered in January 1950, and each of them was provided
with an interchangeable set of floats and skis to permit operation from
land, snow, or water.
